Prepare for Wisconsin Nursing Home Administrator Licensure

Advance your career in long-term care without enrolling in a full degree program. Madison College’s Nursing Home Administration bridge program provides specialized coursework designed for professionals working toward eligibility for Nursing Home Administrator licensure in Wisconsin.

 The program is offered as two consecutive online courses, but together they form one complete 48-hour learning experience covering four essential areas of long-term care administration:

• Care and services
• Long-term care environment and quality
• Leadership and strategy

Wisconsin offers several possible education and experience pathways toward Nursing Home Administrator licensure. Because professional experience may count toward eligibility, requirements can vary from person to person. Applicants complete a brief program application before enrolling so we can review their background and help ensure the courses are appropriate for their intended licensure pathway.

 How the Program Works

Students complete Long Term Care Part 1 followed by Long Term Care Part 2. Each course is four weeks long and requires approximately 24 hours of effort.

 Completing both courses may help satisfy specialized-course requirements for eligible applicants. Additional education, professional experience, examinations and state licensing requirements may also apply. Wisconsin applicants for initial licensure must pass both the national Nursing Home Administrator examination and the Wisconsin State Law examination.

It allows Madison College staff to review your education and professional experience, identify whether you appear to meet the appropriate prerequisites, and help you avoid enrolling in courses that may not apply to your licensure pathway.
