Workplace Language Skills   

This course is designed to familiarize participants with basic Spanish communication skills and cultural awareness needed to interact with Spanish-speaking employees, patrons, co-workers and customers in the workplace. We will cover the basic grammar structures of the language and incorporate essential vocabulary, phrases and dialogues used in the work setting within a context of cultural awareness and a global mindset.

Build on your Spanish communication skills as you continue learning how to interact with Spanish-speaking employees, customers, and coworkers in the workplace. In this course, you’ll expand your knowledge of grammar, including present, past, and future tenses, and practice asking and answering questions with greater confidence. You’ll develop workplace-focused vocabulary, including safety-related terms, and strengthen your conversational skills through real-world scenarios. You’ll also deepen your understanding of Hispanic culture to support more effective and respectful communication.

Part 1: Intro to conversational, basic English with Electronic Text. Covers greetings, common phrases, numbers and times. Colors, food, family, basic questions, calendars, holidays, basic cultural norms, and more. Part 2: Workplace English, focus on common words, phrases, and conversation in the workplace. Covers general safety, quality, employee expectations, and more.
