Maintain your status as a Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) firearms certifier with this biennial refresher course. Current certifier approvals expire December 31, 2026. If you're seeking reapproval through the refresher training pathway, you must complete a DSPS-approved course within the 12 months preceding your application.
Registration and Scheduling Information
Registration and payment are completed through Madison College's website. Registration will remain open through mid-December 2026.
Class Date To Be Determined – Flexible Scheduling Available
To provide greater flexibility, class dates will be scheduled based on enrollment rather than offering one predetermined date. Once you register, the instructor will work directly with you and other participants to coordinate a training date and time that works with your schedules.The Instructor is Thomas Sipin. He has been teaching this refresher course since 2001.
Multiple six-hour sessions may be offered between now and mid-December to accommodate participants and ensure everyone has an opportunity to complete the required training before the December 31, 2026, renewal deadline.
State Administrative Code requires this to be a minimum 6 hour course to qualify for recertification - WI SPS 34.04(2)(a)3
